An extremely successful Construction Management 50th Anniversary Conference was hosted by the Department on 15th and 16th November 2021. Titled ‘The Next 50 years’, the conference comprised both a Scientific Day and an Industry Day to cater to a more diverse range of interested parties.

Feedback has been very complimentary of the conference and format. The Day 1 programme comprised of well-presented academic papers and two high quality keynote speakers as well as a number of tributes from professional and member associations. Day 2 took the theoretical content of the research and made it real, with case studies and implemented examples reflecting the theme of the day, Digitalising Construction Management for a Paradigm Shift. The conference was presented in a hybrid format with both virtual and physical conference attendees, a first for the Department.

A special word of thanks to all team members for your valuable input, especially Prof John Smallwood, for the conference organisation, Prof Fidelis Emuze as Academic Chair and Louise Engelbrecht for administrative assistance. The success of this conference is another positive reflection of the competence and excellence of the department.
